The Water and Waste Water Public Consultation Meeting convened at 6:34 PM with Councillor Amanda Collucci in the Chair.

Veronica Siu, Senior Business Analyst presented the key slides from the 2020 Water and Waste Water Public Consultation Meeting presentation.

Staff provided the following response to the Committee's inquiries:

York Region is currently undertaking a comprehensive study of its future water and wastewater rates beyond 2021.  Staff agreed to report back on how much of the Region’s 9% 2020 rate increase is attributed to the City of Toronto increasing their costs to York Region.  

Committee briefly discussed York Region’s year over year increases to the water and wastewater rate and the impact it has on residents.

    That the following be put forward for consideration by Council at the November 13th Council meeting:

    1. That the Minutes from the November 5, 2019 Water/Wastewater Rate Public Consultation meeting be received; and,
    2. That the 2020 City of Markham's ("City") water/wastewater rate be increased by $0.3500/m3 from $4.4680 to $4.8180/m3 effective April 1, 2020; and further,
    3. That Staff be authorized and directed to do all things necessary to give effect to this resolution.
