THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF MARKAHM
BY-LAW NUMBER _________
WHEREAS Section 122(7) of the Highway Traffic Act
provides for restricted loads on highways during a reduced load period and
provides further that the Municipal Corporation having jurisdiction over a
highway may by by-law designate the date on which a reduced load period shall
start or end and the highway or portion thereof to which the designation
applies;
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF MARKHAM THAT this
By-Law be and the same hereby reads as follows:
1. That load restrictions limiting loads to 5 tonnes
per axle be implemented on all
public highways in the Town from March 1, 2004 to
April 30, 2004 and extended up to May 31, 2004 at the discretion of the
Director of Operations and Asset Management.
Exceptions will be made for the streets listed in Clause 2 and for
vehicles operated by or on behalf of the municipality, where the vehicles are
engaged in highway maintenance, transportation of fire apparatus,
transportation of waste, public utility emergency vehicles and school busses as
stated in Sec. 122(4) of the Highway Traffic Act.

To provide year-round load restriction on
Town rural roads
WHEREAS Section 122(7) of the Highway Traffic Act
provides for restricted loads on highways during a reduced load period and
provides further that the Municipal Corporation having jurisdiction over a
highway may by by-law designate the date on which a reduced load period shall
start or end and the highway or portion thereof to which the designation
applies;

to February 28, 2005 with respect to the portion of any highway designated or
