SUBJECT: |
Second Hand Goods |
|
|
During discussion of some revisions to
the Town’s Second Hand Goods By-Law on November 20th, there were two
matters requiring clarification:
1. Whether the
personal information gathered by the Second Hand Goods operation was stored in
the United States.
I am advised by Mr. James Tyo, Vice-President
Canadian Operations of EB Games, that the individual transaction information is
maintained at the individual stores.
Monthly sales information is conveyed to the franchise office in
Brampton. Only aggregate statistics are
reported to the American parent company.
No personal information is sent to the United States.
2. Whether
children under the age of 15 will be permitted to trade in the Second Hand
Goods stores
Children
are to be permitted to trade games with anyone, regardless of age. The requirement to have those 16 years of age
and over to provide identification was at the request of the Police, on the
basis that children 16 and over have or are likely to have identification
(driver’s licence) and are less likely to be accompanied by a parent who would
be the one presenting identification in respect of the transaction.
