SUBJECT:

Public Meeting- Angus Glen Parking Regulations

RECOMMENDATION:

That a public meeting be held on November 23rd, 2004 to present options and receive feedback from residents of Angus Glen on revised parking by-law regulations for their subdivision.

PURPOSE:

To obtain Committee’s approval to hold a public meeting on November 23rd, 2004 at 5:30 p.m.

BACKGROUND:

Community concern with parking regulations

Residents of the Angus Glen raised concerns earlier this year with the parking regulations within their area. Concerns raised included Angus Glen being an unique urban design form and that the Town’s general parking regulations are too restrictive, while others were believed that more parking enforcement/ regulations were required to control on-street parking in the area.

Public Information Meeting held

A public information meeting was held in February with Angus Glen Residents. Town staff explained current parking regulations and the operational and public safety reasons for regulations. Residents then provided their input on potential options/ solutions for consideration.

Angus Glen Parking Survey completed and options/ solutions developed

To assist in defining the community’s desires for parking regulations, an Angus Glen Parking Survey was completed. The results of the survey are tabulated and staff is preparing potential/ solutions for implementation in response. The public meeting will provide an opportunity for community input, prior to a recommendation of any revisions to the parking by-law.
