The Information Technology Sub-Committee convened at the hour of 3:05 a.m. with Regional Councillor B. O'Donnell in the Chair.

 

 

 

1.         ITS 2004 ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND 2005 PLANNED PRIORITIES (7.13)

 

Francis Poon, Manager, Client Delivery, gave a presentation updating Committee on the Information Technology Department’s 2004 Accomplishments, the 2005 Planned Priorities, and the IT Strategic Plan.

 

With respect to the Town’s voice message system, staff was requested to investigate whether there is a solution to obtaining telephone numbers of persons calling in and expecting a response when they either don’t leave a return number or the number left is unintelligible.

 

 

Regional Councillor J. Jones requested staff to provide him with a copy of the presentation given recently on “ITIL” – Information Technology Infrastructure Library.

That the presentation given by the Manager, Client Delivery, regarding the Information Technology Department’s 2004 Accomplishments, the 2005 Planned Priorities, and the IT Strategic Plan, be received.

2.         CARE/CLASS PARTNERSHIP (12.0)

 

Mr. Nasir Kenea, Manager of Applications & GIS, provided an update on the potential CARE/CLASS partnership, detailing background information, negotiations to date, financial and non-financial benefits.

 

Mr. Doug McIntyre of the Innovation Synergy Centre, who has been assisting in the negotiations, was in attendance and spoke in support of the partnership.  Members were advised that the contract will be reviewed by Town and ISCM staff and a formal report will be forwarded to Council for its consideration.

 

There was some discussion regarding the financial aspects of the proposal.  With respect to the Town departments presently using CARE, staff was requested to clarify Parking Control’s involvement.

That the presentation of the Manager of Applications & GIS regarding the CARE/CLASS Partnership, be received;

 

And that the accompanying information presented by Mr. Doug McIntyre, Innovation Synergy Centre, be received.

3.         ENTERPRISE ARCHITECTURE PRESENTATION (7.13)

 

Mr. Dave Milne, IBM Business Consulting Services, was in attendance and gave a presentation regarding Enterprise Architecture and Portals.

 

 

 

There was some discussion regarding security, access sharing and protection of privacy.

That the presentation of Mr. Dave Milne, IBM Business Consulting Services, regarding Enterprise Architecture and Portals, be received.

4.         ONEYORK (7.13)

 

Mr. Andy Taylor, Commissioner of Corporate Services, provided Committee with an update on the status of the ONEYORK Initiative, as directed by General Committee on February 14, 2005.  He reported that a meeting is being held on February 25th with MUSH administrators, and a report will be forwarded for Council consideration as soon as possible.

 

In response to a concern regarding process, the Chief Administrative Officer advised Committee that there will be a governance and due diligence review of this initiative.

That the information presented by the Commissioner of Corporate Services regarding the ONEYORK Initiative, be received.
