RECOMMENDATION:
That Council receive for information the March 21, 2005
report entitled “Summary of 2004
Remuneration & Expenses for Councillors and Appointees to Boards and Other
Bodies for the period January 01, 2004 to December 31, 2004”.
PURPOSE:
As required by the Municipal
Act, this report sets out the remuneration and expenses paid to Councillors and
appointees to local boards and other bodies.
BACKGROUND:
The
Municipal Act requires the Treasurer to report to Council on remuneration and
expenses paid to Councillors and appointees to local boards or other
bodies. The relevant Section 284(1)
reads as follows:
- The Treasurer of every
municipality shall on or before the 31st day of March in each year submit
to the Council of the municipality an itemized statement of the
remuneration and expenses paid to each member of Council in respect of his
services as a member of Council or as an officer of the municipal
corporation in the preceding year and to each person mentioned in
subsection 284(1) in respect of his services as a member of the local
board or other body in the preceding year.
- A statement submitted
under subsection 284(1) shall also indicate the by-law and the statutory
provision under the authority of which the remuneration or expenses were
paid. These expenses have been made
in accordance with By-law 77-93, as amended by By-law 2002-273.
FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS:
No
financial implications are to be considered in this report.
