Committee of the Whole Motion – March 29, 2005

 

BY-LAW 2005-___

 

A BY-LAW TO AMEND WASTE MANAGEMENT BY-LAW 32-95, BEING A BY-LAW TO ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN A SYSTEM FOR THE COLLECTION OF REFUSE IN THE TOWN OF MARKHAM

 

 

WHEREAS Council, at its meeting held on February 14th, 1995 passed a by-law to establish and maintain a system for the collection of refuse in the Town of Markham;

 

AND WHEREAS Council, at its meeting held on March 29, 2005 passed a resolution to amend by-law 32-95, as amended;

 

THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF MARKHAM HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:

 

1.                   That By-law 32-95, as amended, be further amended as follows:

  

1.1               By deleting Section II, Subsection 4(e) and replacing it with the following :

 

4.     (e) yard materials must be placed out, unmixed with any other refuse, only in kraft paper bags specifically designed for the curbside collection of yard materials or reusable, rigid  tapered containers such as bushel baskets and refuse containers.  Twigs and branches must be less than 15cm (6 inches) in diameter and tied using a non-ferrous material in bundles no longer than 1.2m (4 feet) in length;

 

 

2.                   All other provisions of By-law 32-95, as amended, not inconsistent with the provisions of this by-law shall continue to apply.

 

3.                   This by-law shall come into force on the 1st day of April 2005.
