SUBJECT:

Financial Assistance Request - 2005 Markham Rotary Ribfest

 

 

 


RECOMMENDATION:

THAT Council approve financial support, in the amount of $1,000.00, for the 2005 Markham Rotary Ribfest to be held at the Markham Fairgrounds from July 15 to 17, 2005.

 

PURPOSE:

To process a request for a grant for the 2005 Markham Rotary Ribfest.

 

BACKGROUND:

A request has been received from Markham Sunrise Rotary Club, Ribfest Committee for financial support in the amount of $10,000.00 to assist in the sponsoring of the 2005 Markham Rotary Ribfest.  Attached, as Appendix “A”, is the request and budget.

 

In 2004, the group received $1,000.00 in financial support. Additional in-kind services that included picnic tables, snow fencing and assistance in the promotion were provided. 

 

OPTIONS/DISCUSSION

The Town’s grant policy provides for financial assistance to a maximum of $1000.00 where there is support from a Member of Council or a Senior Town staff.  Staff is recommending that Council continue to support the Rotary Ribfest at the same level as 2004.

 

FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS:

Funds are available in the Council Grants and Sponsorship, Account No. 220 2207802
