	SUBJECT:	Region of York Transportation Projects in Markham Status Update

RECOMMENDATION:

That the report entitled “Region of York, Transportation Projects in Markham – Status Update” be received;

And that staff continue to update Transportation Committee on Markham issues on Regional projects as required.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

Staff have prepared an executive summary of the various Regional Road projects in Markham. In particular the status of the project (E.A., design, construction), Markham requirements for each project, specific sensitivities of the project and funding requirements by Markham regarding certain works (i.e. sidewalk, illumination, streetscape) in the Region’s projects.

Staff will update this list on at least a by-yearly basis and submit it to Committee. In addition staff will bring forward reports regarding specific projects to seek Committee’s and Council’s approval of Region Environmental Assessments and funding obligations by Markham.

INTERDEPARTMENTAL IMPACT:

The Engineering Department will coordinate other departments comments into Regional projects (i.e. Urban Design).

FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS:

Funding obligations listed in the update have or will be incorporated in the Engineering Departments Capital Budget.
