Committee of the Whole Motion – June 14, 2005

BY-LAW 2005-

A BY-LAW TO AMEND WASTE MANAGEMENT BY-LAW 32-95, BEING A BY-LAW TO ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN A SYSTEM FOR THE COLLECTION OF REFUSE IN THE TOWN OF MARKHAM

WHEREAS Council, at its meeting held on February 14^th, 1995 passed a by-law to establish and maintain a system for the collection of refuse in the Town of Markham;

AND WHEREAS Council, at its meeting held on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 passed a resolution to amend by-law 32-95, as amended;

THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF MARKHAM HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:

1. That By-law 32-95, as amended, be further amended as follows:

1.1 By deleting Section 4 (a) and (b), Part 1 and replacing it with the following:

"Blue Box Materials" means all materials collected through the curbside recycling and recycling depot collection programs

1.2 By deleting Section 8, Part I and replacing it with the following;

“Commissioner” means the Commissioner of Community and Fire Services for the Town of Markham or an authorized agent or representative

1.3 By deleting Section 1 (a) and (b), Part II and replacing it with the following:

Private dwellings in the Collection Area as shown in Schedule “A” to this by-law will be provided with the Three-Stream Waste Collection Program collected in accordance with a program established by the Commissioner.

1.4 By deleting Schedule “C”.

2. All other provisions of By-law 32-95, as amended, not inconsistent with the provisions of this by-law shall continue to apply.

3. This by-law shall come into force on the 4^th day of July 2005.
