RECOMMENDATION:
THAT the attached By-laws to amend parking
regulations on
AND THAT the Operations and Asset
Management Department be directed to install the appropriate signs upon approval
of the attached by-laws;
AND THAT the
Parking Control Department be directed to enforce the attached by-laws.
PURPOSE:
This report recommends rescinding the existing
parking prohibition on the east side of Old Kennedy Road and proposes a new parking
prohibition on the west side of Old Kennedy Road.
BACKGROUND:

DISCUSSION:
In response to the Senior Pastor of
Traffic
Operational Observations
On any given Sunday, approximately 1000 church patrons
attend the morning service, thus generating a significant amount of parking
demand. Consequently, there exists a shortage of parking stalls within the
church parking lot and in return, the overflow of motorists park their vehicles
on the west side of
Given that there exists a parking prohibition on
the east side, motorists are required to park on the west side of
Recommendation
It is recommended that the parking prohibition
on the east side be modified to allow parking. This will allow church members
to park on the east side thereby eliminating the need to cross the road. Corner
prohibitions will remain at the intersection of

on-street parking on
FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS:
The cost of labour and materials to implement these
parking measures are accounted for in the 2005 budget for the Operations and
Asset Management Department.
On-going maintenance costs for this installation will
be accounted for in future Operations and Asset Management Department budgets.
BUSINESS UNITS
CONSULTED AND AFFECTED:
Subject to
Council’s approval the Operations and Asset Management Department will remove
and install the proper signage for the proposed parking prohibition. Upon installation of the signs, the Parking
Control Department is to enforce the attached by-law.
