Call to Order

Meeting called to order at 7:08 p.m.

Minutes

·          Confirmation that the Caribbean festival has been cancelled

Additions

·         No additions made

 

 

4.

Foundation Committee

·         Issues raised that the Board can not be a financial foundation at the same time as being an advisory board

·         Questions raised around how to define the Foundation

·         George Phillips suggested that there are other sites which have dealt with similar issues which can be used as a model for which the Foundation can follow

Book Committee

·         Notes made by Monica Peel, as she was absent, were read aloud and explained by Lorne Smith

·         Progress is being made

·         Copy right issues are slowing the processes down as process has changed since last book and people in these photos are still alive.

·         Additionally, it is taking more time as a data base of all the information is being compiled.

·         Estimated the book to be completed and ready for sale by Fall 2007

·         Gunter Langhorst commented that accuracy and substance is the more important then speeding up release date of the book.

Policy Review Committee

·         Monica Peel is off sick and other on this committee, Peter Smith and Dalo Keliar where not present

Collections Development Committee

·         Monica Peel away, will get back to it next meeting.

 

 

8.

Ward Building Committee

·         Draft report to go forwards, requesting councils permission for RFP, which is need to get the architect,

·         The project is still in a flexible stage

·         Aim to be completed within the decade

9.

Wine Tasting Committee

·         Randy Barber is currently recruiting members and sponsors

·         Committee meeting to be held on May 15th at 5:30

·         General agreement to see more of a focus on the auction as it gives a little something more to the event

·         Suggestion give to auction off the major items, approximately 7, live instead of including them in the silent auction element.

·         A Grand Prize Draw, which brings in some level of money i.e. must buy a ticket, was also suggested

·         Confirmed interest in the “Diamond Contest”

Manager’s Report

·         Mr. Humphrey’s presentation went very well and he has donated prototypes and patents to the museum.  He has also given us a connection to the plastics pioneers who are interested in developing a museum.

·         The Rwanda exhibit will hopefully bloom into something more with the high school.

·         All voted in favor to release information to the Canadian Conservation Unit in regards to the conservation of the Acadia

New Business

·         Board discussed the low level of education programs currently participated in on site and the possible reasoning for the lack of demand.

·         Board suggested making the new fence look nicer.
