Everything is on schedule and the unveiling ceremony is on
June 9th at ·
A committee will be formed to determine the criteria and
to develop a policy for who is to be added to the donor panel. |

A recommendation was made to Markham Council General
Committee meeting on April 16th to be approved and the committee
did approve the report on April 24th. ·
The implementation process has now started with
application for charitable status and incorporation of Friends of the ·

Committee attended session with architect and others from
the town April 5th and will be meeting again with them next week
when they plan to bring forth recommendations. ·
More meetings about the building will also be coming up
which the whole board and mayor are invited to, we will keep you posted. |

Randy Barber has requested that Wine Tasting Committee Minutes
be distributed along with Board Meeting Minutes from this point forward. ·

Report |

The Rwanda Exhibit opening is occurring May 30th
·
June 9th is the Mt.Joy School Houses 100th
Anniversary Celebration from ·
Jun 9th is also the unveiling of the Donor
Recognition Plaque from ·
May 8th ·
Anna would like to express congratulations to Elana Yellen
for the amazing job she has done on the Rwanda Exhibit. ·
Andrea and Elana got involved with this years Historica competition
and are working on having the one for ·
We (the museum) asked the boards permission to please give
us the right to sell or leverage the two |

New
Business |
·
Gunter Langhorst announced that John Ryerson has been
officially appointed the Acting Director of Culture and is now reporting
directly to Jim Sales. Culture is now
a stand alone department. ·
Councilor Carolina Moretti announced that two new board
members for the museum have been selected and there names will be put through
to council on May 8th. A
third new member will be sought our and appointed once the foundation is formed. ·
Jim Wicks is looking for the Lion’s Club plaque which
belongs on the Bandstand at the museum and would like it back on the
Bandstand before June 9th. ·
Lorne Smith informed the board that there is a Spruce Tree
which is almost dead just as you come in the driveway and therefore it’s
dangerous. Anna Rose is to contact
Forestry. Lorne also wanted to know if

John Bayfield announced that there will be a volunteer
orientation session running the following week which would include 25-30 new
volunteers, mostly teens. ·
John Ryerson discussed the Canadian Open and the hopes to
have a program at the museum for the golfers and their families. ·
