The Unionville Subcommittee convened at the hour of 9:00 a.m. with Councillor D. Horchik in the Chair.
The ground sign variance application submitted by Longo Brothers Fruit Market at 3085 Highway #7 East, was deferred to the Unionville Subcommittee from the Development Services Committee on June 3, 2003.
Mr. Jason Garnet, representing
Longo Brothers, discussed the reasons for the requested sign variance, and
reviewed the sign standards of other municipalities. Mr. Garnet offered to
forfeit a mobile sign in order to permit the readograph sign. Staff advised
that the by-law currently prohibits mobile signs if there is a readograph on
the ground sign.
The Committee indicated it could not support amendments to the new sign by-law, and suggested the applicant re-design the board to make more efficient use of the sign area.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the ground
sign variance application by Longo Brothers Fruit Market at 3085 Highway #7
East, application # 03-108598, be denied.
