Roth, Director of Recreation and Culture Services___________
The Manager of Heritage Planning
briefly reviewed the various options for the Joshua Miller House; the
importance of making a final decision on this building was stressed and it was
agreed to defer the item to the next meeting. In the interim, the Museum Board
would be approached to take one final look at the proposal to relocate the
building to the Museum grounds in light of the existence of a group of
supporters identified as the ‘Friends of the Joshua Miller House’ who have
indicated a willingness to do the necessary fundraising to have the house
relocated there.
Mr. and Mrs. F. Watt made a brief
presentation on their interest in obtaining the Joshua Miller House, moving it
to the Heritage Estates subdivision and carrying out all necessary renovations
themselves. The Watt’s indicated they
had carried out a similar relocation and renovation of the Grundy House in the
Heritage Estates subdivision which they just recently sold; they also stated
they have gone to the Joshua Miller House on at least twelve different
occasions to secure the integrity of the building by making various
repairs. Mr. Watt indicated that the
back roof is in desperate need of repair.
It was agreed that a decision must be made as soon as possible as the
House continues to deteriorate. It was suggested that a site visit be organized
for committee members to view the house.
