RECOMMENDATION:
That a Public
Meeting be held to consider the zoning by-law amendment application (ZA.05-007543) by the Remington Group to place a
Hold on the zoning of lands on the west side of
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this report is to provide preliminary information
regarding a zoning amendment application by the Remington Group to place a Hold on the zoning of certain lands at the
northwest corner of
Zoning and site plan applications for a 614-unit apartment building were
approved by Council in 1989 and servicing allocation has historically been
assumed for this site. A new site plan
application for a 574 unit apartment development on the site is currently under
review.
The proposal is to place a Hold on the
current zoning of the lands pending the availability of additional servicing
allocation. The applicant is requesting
that approximately half of the previously assigned servicing allocation for
these blocks (275 units) be transferred to a proposed 275-unit apartment
development at the southeast corner of
POTENTIAL BENEFITS OF APPROVAL OF THE
PROPOSAL:
If the Hold provision on the zoning for the subject lands for 275 units of servicing allocation is approved, allocation for 299 units will remain with this site. In order to retain this allocation, the applicant must continue to pursue approval of the site plan application for this site.
FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS:
None at this time.
BUSINESS UNITS CONSULTED AND AFFECTED:
All Town departments and external agencies have been circulated with these applications.
It would
be appropriate to schedule a Public Meeting to consider this application.
