Designation ensures that the heritage building is protected
Designation under the Ontario Heritage Act
is a standard requirement for all buildings that are relocated to Markham
Heritage Estates. Heritage designation

as well as protection for its important architectural features. Heritage designation helps ensure that
restoration work is done to a high standard by informing the property owner
about what features are protected and by requiring that any alterations that
affect the Reasons for Designation be reviewed by Heritage Section Staff and
Heritage Markham, and approved by the Town.
Should Council decide to proceed with the recommendation
