RECOMMENDATION:
That the report entitled “Main
Street Unionville Parking Regulations” dated
And that the pilot project be considered
a success and that the parking regulations on Main Street Unionville as set out
in the by-law continue to be enforced.
PURPOSE:
This report outlines the results of
the pilot project for parking regulations on Main Street Unionville.
BACKGROUND:
On
OPTIONS/DISCUSSION:
The parking regulations restrict
parking on the boulevard on the west side of Main Street Unionville during
evenings and weekends from April to October.
Based on feedback from their members, the Unionville BIA is satisfied that
these regulations have provided for an improved environment on Main Street Unionville. Approximately 1200 parking tickets have been
issued by by-law enforcement staff. One
of the initial concerns was the confusion related to the signs which identified
both the hours of prohibition and the months during which the prohibitions are
in effect. In order to reduce this
confusion, the signs will only be displayed during the months when the
prohibition is in effect.
BUSINESS UNITS CONSULTED AND AFFECTED:
There are no operational issues
identified by either the Operations Department or By-law Enforcement.
