sectional dimensions or providing thicker, slightly tapered, pillars more typical
of early 20th century porches and better suited to carry the
perceived visual weight of the entrance porch roof;
AND THAT Heritage Markham request the applicant to consider cladding the
addition in V groove or clapboard rather than board and batten and that the
whole addition take on a simplified look to complement the existing heritage
building.

Councillor Burke provided information respecting the Region of York's Planning for Tomorrow 2007 Public Engagement and Consultation Process which started on May 1, 2007, throughout the Region to obtain input on the York Region Preliminary Draft Sustainability Strategy: Towards a Sustainable Region. Councillor Burke expressed concern that the promotional materials for the public consultation process do not mention the protection of built heritage.
