1. MINUTES
OF COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE

Recommendations:
That the
minutes of the Committee of the Whole meeting held on July 10, 2001 be
confirmed.
2. GO
TRANSIT PARKING AT CENTENNIAL (5.14.2 & 5.12.4 & 6.6)
Mr.
Stan Bertoia, Director of Environmental Services & Administration gave a
brief overhead presentation with respect to the proposed McCowan GO Station
including the following issues raised by the public at the public information
meeting held on July 4, 2001 and mitigation measures:
-Parking
-Bullock
Drive Access
-McCowan
Road Access
-Safety
-Enforcement
-On
Street Parking
-Special
Events
-Community
Centre Expansion
-GO
Transit Service Expansion
Several
residents were in attendance in opposition to the proposal for a GO Station at
Centennial Community Centre and shared use of parking between the Town and GO
Transit at the Centennial Community Centre.
Committee
discussed the matter at length.
Mr.
Brian Maguire, Project Co-ordinator, GO Transit, was in attendance and pointed
out that Markham Council had approached GO Transit in 1999 requesting a GO
Station. The drawings for the McCowan
Road location have been completed.
Recommendations:
That the
minutes of the public information meeting held on July 4, 2001 with respect to
GO Transit Parking at Centennial Community Centre, be received;
And that a
second public meeting be held in early to mid September to consider the
proposed GO Station at McCowan Road;
And further
that staff be authorized to contact GO Transit to put forward the new proposal
and that staff report back to Council on September 25, 2001.
