2. UNIONVILLE LIONS CLUB PROPOSAL AT THE
UNIONVILLE LIBRARY LANDS (3.0 & 3.19)
Mr. Del Maize, President, Unionville
Lions Club, addressed Committee regarding the Unionville Lions Club proposal
for the Unionville Library lands on Main Street Unionville. He urged that the Lions Club be permitted to
proceed with their proposal for this park and indicated their willingness to
consider other locations on the site for the arch. Mr. Maize stressed the importance of having the Lions Club name
on the arch. He confirmed that the
Trillium Foundation is willing to provide additional time for the resolution of
concerns regarding this location, however, if another park is chosen, the Lions
Club would be required to reapply for funding.
Discussion took place regarding
commemoratively naming places/things, other possible locations for the arch on
the subject site, and the anticipated division of funding between park
improvements and the arch.
Mr. Bill Dewberry, Chair, Special
Projects, Unionville Lions Club, advised that every home around the subject
park has been canvassed and have no objection to the proposal. He advised that the Lions Club is hopeful of
a resolution to this matter within eight weeks.
Recommendations:
That the deputations by Mr. Del Maize, President, and Mr. William
Dewberry, Special Projects Chairman, both of the Unionville Lions be received;
And that consideration of the Unionville Lions Club proposal for the
