on September 3, 2002 be confirmed.

2. YORK REGION DISTRICT SCHOOL
BOARD
CAPITAL PROJECT LIST 2002-2005

Ralph Benson, Superintendent of Corporate Planning, Jane
Ross, Coordinator of Land Use Planning, Lewis Morgulis, Coordinator of
Accommodation Planning, and Bill Crothers, Trustee, York Region District School
Board made a presentation on the Board's Capital Strategy 2002-2005.
Mr. Crothers introduced the representatives noting that
eight new schools have been opened in 2002 and eleven are planned for
2003. He also thanked the Town of
Markham for its high level of co-operation with the Board and the valuable
information received from the Development Services Commission.
Mr. Morgulis presented some background and the Boards
capital strategy for 2002 to 2005 including such issues as:
• new
elementary and secondary schools and additions for York Region from September,
1999 to 2002 and for 2003 to 2005.
• new
elementary and secondary schools and additions for the Town of Markham from
September, 1999 to 2002 and for 2003 to 2005.
• capital
projects in Markham for 2003 to 2005 indicating the area and planned capacity.
• projected
pupil places and cost
• elementary
and secondary portable reduction - a priority for the Board.
• 1999-2002
completed projects highlighting new and completed projects to date in the
Markham area.
• 2003-2005
planned projects in the Markham area.

Trustee, York Region District School Board, regarding the Board's Capital
Strategy 2002-2005, be received;
And that the issue
of the stockpiling of soil on school sites be referred to staff.

4. INTERIM CONTROL BY-LAW
MARKHAM ROAD CORRIDOR STUDY

Committee had before it the tabled report dated September
17, 2002 from the Acting Director of Planning and the Acting Commissioner of
Development Services regarding a proposed interim control by-law for the
Markham Road Corridor Study.
Committee consented to add and consider this item.

Seconded by Councillor J. Heath
That the report
entitled "Markham Road Corridor Interim Control By-law", dated
September 17, 2002, be received;
And that Council
direct staff to undertake a land use study to identify appropriate uses and
zoning standards for the lands along the Markham Road corridor, between 14th
Avenue and Steeles Avenue;
And that the draft
interim control by-law for the Markham Road corridor, be enacted without
further notice.
